California Bill Would Lead to Benefits for Domestic Partners
The bill, AB1080, would prohibit a state agency from entering into a contract for the acquisition of goods or services with a vendor or contractor who does not offer benefits to domestic partner employees. If the bill passes, it would make California the first state to mandate that private sector contractors provide partner benefits for gay and lesbian employees.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Unanimous in Ending Ban on Gay Adoptions
Chief Justice Stephen A. Zappala, in a 13-page opinion, not once but three times, called that inequity in the law "absurd." The court in a 6-0 decision, found that one partner in a gay or lesbian relationship can adopt a child without forcing the other partner to give up parental rights. The decision means children in gay and lesbian families could now qualify for health insurance, inheritances and other benefits that they did not get before.

New York City Recognizes Gay Partnerships
"We voted to make it so people who are registered domestic partners, civil unions or gay marriages from other jurisdictions, recognized as registered New York City domestic partners," said Council Member Christine Quinn

The Human Rights Campaign Survey Shows Most Companies Protect Gays
