Michael Savage, talk show host of the "Savage Nation" radio program, has issued threats against individuals and groups who are protesting advertisers who support his program. He is claiming that by pressuring companies to discontinue advertising on the "Savage Nation" radio program, these activists are breaking the law.
While the StopHateRadio.com movement strongly disagrees with what Michael Savages says on his radio program, we recognize his right to say whatever he wants in whatever forum he wants... just like the KKK and other white supremacists and other hate groups.
The StopHateRadio.com movement is not asking the government to censor Michael Savage. The government has no business interfering with the 1st Amendment rights of groups or individuals -- no matter how reprehensible.
Do we have a legal right to protest against radio stations who air the "Savage Nation" radio program? Yes.
Is it illegal to protests companies or individuals who say things that are believed or alleged to be harmful to the society? No.
Michael Savage is claiming that anti-hate activists are interfering with his right to make a living. This is not true.
Michael Savage is free to make a living in any manner he chooses. He has a Ph.D., is supposed to know a lot about health and nutrition and has written a few books.
What Michael Savage must understand is that we, too, are free to voice our concerns to local radio stations and the general public about what we believe to be programming that promotes hate/intolerance and therefore is damaging to the society. This is our opinion, and we are as free to express it as Michael Savage is free to express his opinions.
If you have a radio station in your local area that promotes hate and intolerance, please email us for more information about how you can start a StopHateRadio.com bumper sticker campaign in your area.
