DontAmend Tampa Bay Rally to
Celebrate Massachusetts First State to
Sanction Same-Sex Marriages.
DontAmend Tampa Bay, DATB, has organized
a rally to celebrate and show our support for the Massachusetts Supreme
Judicial Court ruling to sanction same-sex marriage, which is scheduled to take effect on May
17th. This landmark ruling
will make Massachusetts the first state to sanction same-sex marriages. DATB, in conjunction with
DontAmend.com,
The Equality Campaign and all local
chapters are organizing local events and rallies
nationwide.
DontAmend Tampa Bay
Rally:
Location: Lowery Park, Picnic
Shelter # 118, 7525 North Boulevard Tampa, FL 33604
Date: May 15th. 2004
Time: Noon - 4 pm.
DontAmend Tampa Bay is proud to have the following groups and
organizations co-sponsoring and supporting our rally, GLBT Parents of Tampa
Bay, Couples National Network. Equality Florida, Florida Gulf Coast Couples, Gay
Lesbian & Straight Education Network of Tampa, Metropolitan Community Church
of Tampa, Parents & Friends of Lesbian and Gays of Pinellas, Florida West
Coast Triangle Caucus and Rainbow Law.
DATB's rally is to serve as a celebration of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court
ruling. However, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, in a last ditch effort to
halt same-sex marriage form taking place, is attempting to bypass his
attorney general and take the case against same-sex marriage directly
to the state's highest court. Should he succeed
in this attempt, our celebration may be a protest of this action.
Please join with us to celebrate and support
this landmark day for marriage equality and our continued opposition to
passage of the "Federal Marriage Amendment".
