Dear DontAmend Tampa Bay Supporters
 
I am pleased to announce the City of Tampa Parks Department has approved DontAmend Tampa Bay's special event application to hold a Press Conference and Rally. Our purpose is to express opposition to
President Bush's endorsement of the Federal Marriage Amendment and Senate Judiciary Subcommittee
on the Constitution, hearings on the F.M.A.
 
LOCATION: Franklin Street Mall [Downtown Tampa across from the Tampa Police Department]]
DATE: Saturday; March 20,
TIME: 11 am - 2 pm.
 
On Saturday, I will be meeting with Doris Walent, of the parks department and she will show me the exact location where the press conference and rally will be held on Franklin Street Mall. After which, I will send out detailed information on the location, directions, parking, etc:.
 
To avoid insurance requirements and the cost involved in obtaining it, any kind of physical set up, such
as a podium, tables/booths and chairs will not be permitted. We are allowed to hand out our groups and
organizations informational flyers or pamphlets and I will check to see about areas for hanging banners.
 
Please, forward this this information to the members of your group, organization and friends. Any help in
spreading the word to our community and supporters would be extremely helpful. I will personally contact those of you who have offered to assist in organizing DATB activities and events, any other offers of help
are always welcome. DATB will provide Placecards and all are welcome to make placecards with their
own personal messages. All we ask that they be in good taste, so as to not give the news media or those who support the F.M.A. the ability to show us in a negative light.
 
I would appreciate it if you could notify me, as to whether, a representative of your group or organization
would like to read a statement or speak during the press conference/rally. You can send this information
to DATB by email or by phone at: (813) 251-0693. I would like to be able to issue a press release as
soon as possible, with the names of the groups and organizations co-sponsoring and/or participating the press conference/rally, to the news media.
 
Thanks to your support and participation, our Valentines Day of Action Rally was a huge success and 
media coverage we received was outstanding. Your continued support and participation in this press conference/rally, could result to the same. We must get our message of opposition to the Federal
Marriage Amendment out, along with assuring President Bush and all who support the F.M.A., we will
not remain silent or forget their support of this ant-gay rights amendment.
