DontAmend Tampa

Mission Statement
DontAmend Tampa Bay,
DATB, is a local chapter of DontAmend.Com, an umbrella project of The
Equality Campaign, Inc. a non-profit 501 C-4 Political Action Group.
DATB is a non-partisan organization and does
not endorse any presidential candidate for the up-coming 2004 election. A persons party affiliation or support of a
particular presidential candidates is of no concern and
we respect everyone's right to choose whomever they wish to vote for and do
not try to influence anyone to change their choice of candidates. DATB
does make a candidates position on whether they support or oppose the
Federal Marriage Amendment and/or Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender
Americans equal civil rights public. DATB will voice our opposition to any
candidate that does oppose marriage equalty and GLBT equal civil rights ,
as well as encourage others to do the same.
DATB's mission is to focus our
activities and efforts on preventing passage of the FMA or any state
that would propose legislation that would Ban Same-Gender Marriages and
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Americans Equal Civil Rights. DATB
promotes personal and community participation through activism, to fight
amending the U.S. or any States Constitution that would deny the rights of
same-gender couples to marry, and from permanently stripping the rights of any
state to recognize same-gender relationships and grant them the same equal civil
rights and protections, that all other citizens of their state enjoy and are
protected by law. DATB believes the Federal Marriage Amendment would add
discrimination of GLBT Americans to the U.S. Constitution and would
threaten existing benefits, rights and protections that we have
achieved.
DATB efforts to fight the FMA,
consists of requesting that members of our GLBT community and supporters,
contact their legislators to express their opposition to amending the
constitution, and to attend our future events and rallies, to serve as a visible
presence, and to have an opportunity to have our voices heard
in opposition to the FMA and to show our support for equal civil
rights for GLBT Americans.
DATB is proud to receive
support from many local GLBT organizations and members
of our community, who share the common view of the harm and
threat that the FMA will have on our equal civil rights. We ask that you join with DATB,
our co-sponsors, members and
supporters in this fight against our equal civil rights. Only
together, will we defeat this anti-gay amendment
from writing discrimination into our Constitution.
Sincerely
