Amazon.com
It is with extreme
disappointment I am writing to you on your continued
association Dr. Laura
Schlessinger. I have to condemn your disregard of
your own policy against
discrimination based on sexual orientation by
having your advertising banner
appear on her web site. And for Dr. Laura
being accepted as an affiliate of
Amazon.com. The disgust I felt when I saw
your banner above Dr. Laura's call
for action to support the Boy Scouts and
Jessie Helms Amendment, both who
have a history of discrimination of Gays,
Lesbians. How could you knowing of
Dr. Laura's campaign of hate, intolerance
and support of discrimination against Gays and Lesbians wish
to associate
with her? Does your policy mean
nothing? With your continued association
with Dr. Laura as an
affiliate, your answer seems to be your policy does mean
nothing. This is a slap in the face to all Gays and
Lesbians who support Amazon.
com with their gay dollars. I for
one refuse to slapped again by those who profess
a policy of non-discrimination
based on sexual orientation and it is blatantly
not the truth.
This is a sad state of
affairs for a company that has much to offer. However, we
are judged by those we
associate. Your choice of Dr. Laura as an affiliate, is one
I believe, goes against your
enrollment policy for affiliates. Amazon.co has the
right to ignore or change their
own policy. I would expect you to adjust your
policy as written, to reflect this
change and remove the words sexual orientation.
Because this is not a true
statement as long as you continue to associate with
Dr. Laura.
Respectfully
