WE STOOD BY seven years ago when a Republican Congress and
Democratic president made the Denial of Marriage Act (DOMA) the law of the
land.
WE STOOD BY when the majority of states passed similar laws making
gays and lesbians second-class citizens.
Now that the courts are set to
possibly overturn those laws as unconstitutional, a Republican president and the
Democrats and Republicans in Congress, under the guise of "stopping gay
marriage," are preparing to enshrine anti-gay bigotry in the US
Constitution.
WILL WE STAND BY AGAIN?
Don't let politicians of
either party treat us as second-class citizens. Whether because they hate
us or because they want to get re-elected and fear the correct moral stance, the
correct stance of any good American is to stand up to bigotry and say no. The
politicians think we will continue to accept their prejudice
and their
cowardice while handing over our votes and our money.
THIS TIME
THEY'RE WRONG
We have just as much political clout, and money, and votes
as all the bigots combined. It's time we started using that influence by showing
politicians of all political stripes that if they pander to hate, they can kiss
their jobs goodbye.

I pledge to vote against any politician of
any political party who supports the proposed Federal Marriage Amendment to the
U.S. Constitution, which denies gay and lesbian Americans the same rights
enjoyed by all other citizens. I will also vote against any politician of any
political party who supports any future amendments to the U.S. Constitution that
deny equal rights to any group of Americans simply because of their race, sex,
religion, national origin, disability or sexual orientation."
