A few gay and bi fathers have begun and set up a discussion/social
group for gay fathers and partners. The purpose of the group is to
provide a meeting place and time(s) for fathers to get together to talk about
what it's like to be a father and gay/bi; to provide experiential advice to
group members/attendees; to socialize.
The intent and nature of the
support group is to provide a forum, informative
and social, to address the needs and concerns of those
fathers. For example... How do I enable my child to understand
the reason my ex-wife and I divorced... How do I handle my ex-wife's
promulgation of her negative attitude toward my own sexual orientation... How do
I provide for a caring relationship between myself, my child and my partner...
Are there other men like me... going through the same issues... And how do I
handle the expectancies of support, financial and emotional, as a
divorced and gay or bi man.... There
are a number of gay/bi men, who are fathers, who have had a successful life and
relationship with their children... And
there are many who are struggling...
The type of announcement I would like to provide would
follow:
"If you are gay/bi and a father and interested in getting
together with other gay/bi fathers to share your experiences as a Dad, please
contact Jim, in Tampa, at (813) 962-2943."
Could you please assist and
direct me to the person(s) and/or area(s) that I could contact to begin a
process via announcement(s) going to initiate and develop such a
get-together/group.
Thank
you,
