So, was it a case of life imitating art last week when actress Shelley Morrison, who plays a wisecracking domestic was busted for allegedly shoplifting from a West Los Angeles department store?
Robinsons-May isn't exactly Saks Fifth Avenue, but then Morrison isn't exactly Winona Ryder either. Still Shelley just got a helfty raise from the peacock network when W&G was renewed.
Police say the 66 year old Morrison, whose real name is Rachel Mitrani, was detained by store security guards. They won't say what she is accused of pilfering, but the value is over $400.
Morrison was later released on $20,000 bail and she's scheduled to appear in court May 14.
She recently called the role of Rosario a dream come true. "A bitch with a heart," Morrison calls her.
Although she has specialized in playing Hispanic roles Morrison is actually Jewish. She was born in the Bronx and raised in a tenement, and is married to non-fiction writer Walter Dominquez. When she was arrested police booked her under the name Rachel Dominguez.
A breast and lung cancer survivor, Morrison is dedicated to sharing her experience, offering hope and inspiration to those struggling with illness. She also lobbies government agencies to provide low-income people with access to tests for early cancer detection.
Besides W&G her TV and film credits include roles as Sister Sixto in the 1960s TV series "The Flying Nun," Mrs. Ramirez on the soap opera "General Hospital" and Aunt Carmen in the 1997 film "Fools Rush In.
There's been no comment on the arrest from either Morrison's agent or NBC.
