Out comedienne, former talk-show host Rosie O'Donnell has demanded a retraction from the National Enquirer tabloid, which printed a story that asserted that she and her live-in partner, Kelli (Carpenter) O'Donnell, were on the verge of splitting up, O'Donnell's attorney said.

The story detailed a series of alleged bitter fights between the couple and reported that Carpenter, 35, recently walked out with the couple's 4-month-old daughter, Vivienne.

"It's all a pack of lies and the National Enquirer was told it was a pack of lies," said Los Angeles attorney Bert Fields, who represents O'Donnell.

In a statement, O'Donnell, 41, said she was considering suing for defamation after "repeatedly" turning a blind eye to other "malicious and untrue" tabloid stories because "the constant reports of her family's demise has caused tremendous pain," the statement said.

"Printing that I am 310 pounds is one thing," O'Donnell said. "Printing that my partner and our newborn daughter have left is another. I will not tolerate such a hurtful and slanderous lie. We are a happy family with two mothers and four children."

O'Donnell and Carpenter, who recently changed her name legally to Kelli O'Donnell, have been together since 1997. The couple live in upstate New York with Vivi and their three other adopted children, aged 7, 5, and 3.
