Three Strikes and You’re In
After a year-long battle for recognition of a gay-straight alliance at Boyd County High School in Kentucky, the sschool’s teacher parent council recently voted for a third time and finally approved the group, which already has 30 active members. While a victory, it came only after the school was pressed with the fact it was violating the federal Equal Access Act. More info

Already, the media is rightly calling the October 16, 2002, murder of Gwen Araujo, a transgender 17-year-old from Newark, California, a national tragedy. Take this opportunity to call on California’s top schools’ official to pursue more aggressive implementation of the state’s Student Safety and Violence Protection Act of 2000. More info
