DontAmend Tampa Bay Website:
DontAmend Tampa Bay, is working with
DontAmend.Com, Marriage Equality California and Marriage Equality USA,
in
launching a pro-active, pro-equal marriage
campaign of local educational events, protests of anti-gay officials and other
activities culminating in a nationwide day of
rallies and other events for same sex marriage on
Valentine's Day, Saturday,
February, 14, 2004.
A "Valentines Day of Action Rally" is being
organized for the Tampa Bay area and is set to take place on Saturday,
February 14, 2004, to coincide with
rallies scheduled to take place in cities and towns across the nation. The Tampa
Bay rally is set to take place at Lowery Park Band
Shell, 7525 North Boulevard, from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. The purpose of
the Valentines Day Action Rally is to celebrate same-sex couples relationships, a
show of support for marriage
equality
for
same-sex couples and serve to express your opposition to the "Federal Marriage Amendment" to the U.S. Constitution.
DontAmend Tampa Bay is seeking
volunteers to help organize, participate and community, local
groups/organizations
leaders and
same-sex couples to speak during the rally. This will be an opportunity for
us to express personal views
and opinions on this most important issue of marriage equality for all same-sex couples. And
for same-sex couples to
celebrate their relationships and share their
personal experiences and stories. We are also seeking local organizations
who would wish to co-sponsor the
rally.
History has shown, that civil rights have always
been won by mobilizing as many people as possible
to publicly and personally participate in
demonstrating for these rights.
This has contributed to winning civil
and equal rights in the
past and can do the
same in the present. Our goal is no less than full equal legal rights for all
Lesbians, Gays,
Bisexuals and Transgender
Americans.
Let us join together on this day and help to
show the members of our communities nationwide that same-sex
couples
deserve the same and
equal rights that all opposite-same-sex couples enjoy by law. And
that the "Federal Marriage
Amendment" is wrong for not just LGBT's, but, for
all Americans.
