Why would you support an Oil Company, with your hard earned dollars, that refuses to support you. Right after Exxon merged with Mobil, their first policy decision, was strip Mobil's employees of extisting partners benefits and protection against discrimination. They have ignored requests and plea's from ExxonMobil Shareholders, 24 U.S. Senators, Pro-Rights Groups and GLBT Organizations for re-instatement of Mobil's policies and benefits. February 1, 2002: The Coalition to Promote Equality at ExxonMobil announced today that 40 statewide gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organizations have joined their efforts to convince ExxonMobil to treat their employees fairly and offer them equal benefits for equal work. Exxon Mobil Corp. shareholder defeated a variety of proposals including one to restore same-sex partners benefits and explicit non-discrimination policy against gays, which Exxon revoked after they aquired Mobil, back in 1998. The proposal, with heavy lobbying by activists shareholders did receive 13% of shareholders votes. Which means the proposal qualifies to be re-submitted new year. TBC Action Alert, Join us in sending ExxonMobil a message, "We Will Not Buy No Gas @ ExxonMobil". Boycott ExxonMobil until next years shareholders meeting. Let Chairman Lee Raymond explain to the shareholders, that the high cost of inequality put a dent in their profits. TBC has "Boycott ExxonMobil" banners available for your web site or email. Newsletter sent out to members of our E-List. Boycotts are a right and have been used by many in their struggle to gain their civil rights and in opposition to discrimination. Most notably was the successful boycott started after Rosa Parks refused to sit in the back of a bus, because of the color of her skin. Calling for this boycott of Exxon Mobil Corp. is a last resort. After the pleas of 24 U.S. Congressman, ExxonMobil Corp. Shareholders, Employee Pro-Rights Groups and GLBT Organizations re-instatement of Mobil's domestic partners benefits and non-discrimination based on sexual orientation policy. The powers that be turned a deaf ear and by doing so, leaving us with only one option in attempting to get them to listen and it is to Boycott ExxonMobil, until their hearing improves.
